MMOV ensure that all our support workers/ mentors: 

  • Are thoroughly interviewed, providing current Curriculum Vitae's, detailing previous employment and qualifications, training and professional status as required by law, the hirer or a professional body. 
  • Identity is confirmed and checks are made via birth certificate, pass port or driving license 
  • Proof of residing in the UK via utility bills/official work and pensions documents 
  • Are Eligible to work in the UK 
  • Have satisfactory references 
  • Complete a medical questionnaire 

When proposing a support worker / mentor to any school or organisation Valour Youth only supply Mentors/Support Workers who have passed these quality and vetting checks.


MMOV also conduct, over time, our own quality processes, such as:

  • The Care Certificate
  • List 99 search
  • Accredited Training - OCNLR Mentoring Practice course level 2 
  • Safeguarding Level 1 and 3 
  • First Aid 
  • Team Teach

As an employer we undertake to:

Living Wage Employer Accreditation 2020


We are delighted to confirm that you have been accredited as a Living Wage Employer by the Living Wage Foundation. 


This letter confirms that from 27 February 2020,  Mighty Men of Valour meets the standards set by Citizens UK and the Living Wage Foundation by signing the ‘UK Living Wage Employer' licence agreement. 


The accreditation is valid for one year. Mighty Men of Valour is listed on the Living Wage website as an accredited Living Wage Employer.


The real Living Wage

The real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate that is voluntarily paid by organisations and businesses who believe their staff deserve a fair day's pay for a hard day's work. Our employers pay the real Living Wage which is higher than the government minimum - they also make sure all their employees in London receive the London Living Wage.


As a Living Wage Employer, Mighty Men of Valour has committed to:

  • Pay the real UK or London Living Wage (as appropriate) to all of their directly
  • employed staff over the age of 18.
  • Ensure all their third-party contracted and sub-contracted regular, on-site staff are
  • paid the real UK or London Living Wage (as appropriate).

Increase the wages of these employees and contracted staff to the Living Wage, if appropriate, within six months of any rise in the calculated living Wage rates.


This letter may be submitted to demonstrate Mighty Men of Valour's Living Wage accreditation for the time period stated above.

Position:  Male and Female Support Workers

Location: Croydon, City of London and Hackney

Hours: Weekend - Saturday and/or Sunday 

Job Description: 
Are you self-motivated, resilient and patient, with excellent communication skills?   We are expanding our team and looking for genuinely, caring and hands on individuals to join our team of Support Workers.   We are looking for  experienced Support/Key workers to work and support boys, who have Special Education Needs.
  • Responsibilities include: 
  • Supporting young person 
  • Writing reports 
  • Writing and completing action plans  motivate and inspire young person 
  • Help promote young person’s Social Skills  Devise appropriate strategies on how to help young person with behaviour issues 
  • Devise plan for days out 

Essential Requirements: 
  • You should ideally have experience working with boys with behavioural problems and complex needs.
  • Current DBS  Eligible to live and work in the UK
  • SEN Training

Position: Mentors 

Location: Croydon, City of London and Hackney

Hours: Part-time and weekend/evenings

Job Description: 
We are looking for mentors to work and support young people of Primary/Secondary School age, who are in need of support to develop their personal, social and emotional skills and/ or who are at risk of exclusion.

Responsibilities include: 
Agree a programme of mentoring activity that best meets the needs of their mentee.   This may include classroom observation, 1:1 discussion, home visits, discussion with staff and parents, participating in activities with the mentee peer group.  
To plan and deliver a wide range of extra-curricular activities which promote learning, positive behaviour, and better social skills. 
Build and maintain rapport over sustained periods of time.   
  • Motivating and inspiring young person 
  • Help strengthen young people’s self-esteem and confidence 
  • Devise appropriate strategies on how to help young people with confidence etc. 
  • Writing reports and completing action plans 
  • Supporting young person well-being (emotional, psychological, physical and social needs) 
  • Attending TAF, LAC and other meetings related to the mentee  
Essential Requirements: 
  • Mentors MUST have a clean and current DBS.
  • You should ideally have experience working with boys with behavioural problems and complex needs. 
  • Be emotionally resilient and be able to work in a challenging environment . 
  • Current DBS  Eligible to live and work in the UK
Qualifications:  
Experience as a mentor would be preferable, but not essential
